Day 16; 6 castaways down, 10 more to go. Let's get to today's Reward Challenge. Back in the day during the merge episode, Survivor would always feature contestants painting a new merge flag and deciding on a new tribe name. This challenge will simulate just that, however, this reward will be completed in two-person partnerships, so team on up. If you guys do not team up in a manner which keeps the pace of the game, I will randomly assign duos to those who aren't yet teamed up. Here is your template; As a duo, use the above graphic and decorate it as you see fit. No guidelines or restrictions. Do your worst. The only stipulation is that you will design these flags in two, 10-minute intervals with Production. If Ali and Duke team up, they would discuss their ideas together and come up with a plan of action. They decide Ali is going first, where he will meet with Production for 10-minutes and design on screen share. He will save the document after 10-minutes and send it over to Production. When Duke is ready for his 10-minute session, he will continue where Ali left off. Once both castaways in each partnership have designed for 10-minutes, that is the final product. You are allowed to include names, pictures, colors, patterns - whatever you'd like. Your Production staff will decide which duo was most successful and which tribe name we like the most, so, your tribe name is very important in this challenge. Each duo may also submit a short write-up describing their flag and explaining their design choices. The most successful duo will earn reward in the form of a $20 gift card and an advantage in the coming Immunity Challenge. If you have any questions, please contact Production. In the meantime, start teaming up in duos! 24 hours will be given for this Reward, ending tomorrow night at 8pm EST.

Come on in castaways! The results of the duos reward challenge is hot off the press! It was a pretty clear decision for all of Production... One duo had the communication and skillset far above the rest, but we applaud everyone's efforts. This was a fun challenge to spectate. . . . . . . Grace & Courtney
. . . . . . Amanda & Ali
. . . . . . Kira & Michael
. . . . . . Duke & Ojani
. . . . . . Dave & Oliver
. . . . .
Without further ado, Dave & Oliver win this reward challenge by a clear margin. Their image and write-up stole the show. It was incredible watching you two work together throughout this challenge. This is well deserved and you now receive +3 points in the coming Immunity!! Mahe-Ya is your new tribe name. You guys can head back to camp and await the Secret Santa results. For our flag, we wanted to celebrate Seychelles and pay homage to its rich, diverse culture & heritage. The culture in Seychelles is an eclectic mix of French, English & African influences along with Chinese & Indian influence being brought in during recent years, so we wanted to have all of those represented in some way. With African having a major influence we decided to bring in African patterns to the side borders of the flag to showcase that rich, vibrant, colorful heritage that African communities evoke. After that French culture seemed to be a heavy influence, so we decided to take the Fleur De Lis and have it one the top of the flag pole and then have emblems of Chinese, Indian & English dissent hanging off the flag pole, so that all cultures were showcased.
We also took inspiration from their flag & coat of arms as their flag has 5 colours on it (Red, Blue, Yellow, Green & White), so we made sure to stick to that colour scheme as the African pattern showcases only those colours. Seychelles is known for its animal conservation, being one of the worlds leading countries in that area, specifically its efforts to the conversation of Giant Tortoises such as the Seychelles Giant Tortoise & Aldabra Giant Tortoise, which is why we choose to have them on our flag, as well as them being on the Coat of Arms. To also link the Coat of Arms with used a pair White- tailed Tropicbird which can be found at the top of it. This also links in with the animal conversation as Seychelles has done a tremendous are repopulating a lot of tropical bird specifics that were once considered endangered and on the brink of extinction.
For the Tribe Name we landed on the name Mahé-Ya. Mahé because the pre-merge tribe names were based off islands in the Seychelles and we wanted to continue that theme and with Mahé being the largest island in the Seychelles, it seemed fitting. However, concerned that great minds think alike we wanted to elevate it. We opted to add a bonus “-Ya” (ala Hey-Ya) as it was a playful twist and gave some fun & slight humor to the tribe name and since the Seychelles are a fun get away for people around the world, as well as our merge tribe being a group of fun, bubbly people. Our final touch was adding the Seychelles motto “Finis Coronat Opus” which translates to “The End Crowns the Work.” Seems like a fitting Survivor slogan to us!
Overall we wanted the design to have the colorful nature of the Seychelles, without it being too over the top as the Seychelles is renowned for its beautiful islands & scenery whilst having that under-stated peace and harmony which our flag represents. The Beauty of the Seychelles and its diverse, vibrant heritage.
